Second Birthday Portraits

April 30, 2008

Well, I tried.  Kaitlyn wasn’t the most cooperative, but it worked.  We played peek-a-boo and that’s how I got the images.  Still it will make a nice series I think.  What do you think?  Doesn’t she look so big??!!

And here’s my favorite (yes, it’s in the collage) but I wanted you to be able to see it better.

Kaitlyn’s Beach Barbeque Birthday Party

April 22, 2008

Wow, that title was a mouthful.  We had so much fun.  The weather was perfect on Sunday for a beach barbeque.  We rented a pavilion, which they forgot to reserve, so we had a bit of trouble at the beginning.  BUT, I think it all worked out for the best.  If we had been closer to the water, we would have never gotten the children fed.  Chris cooked his heart out, with ribs, burgers, hot dogs, etc.  Our friends brought the best potato salad and cucumber salad too!  Oh and lets not forget the CHOCOLATE birthday cake, yum!

Anyhow, I’m getting sidetracked.  The kids loved eating and swimming and playing with their friends.  We had the perfect number of people, a couple families came, and we celebrated.  Kaitlyn found that she really likes putting sand in buckets, hehe.  The first few pictures are of her - "putting sand in a bucket" and then "sand on the head"  I’m still combing that out hehe.

Little Ashley is Getting so TALL

April 20, 2008

Yesterday I wanted to play a little with my flash and see how the photos worked for me.  I’m really happy with the results.  But these pictures made me cry!  Where did my little squishy toddler go?  Where did the baby that ran through the house giggling just for the joy of running go?  In her place, I have a young girl, who plays webkins, likes the Wii, HATES Hannah Montana, but still loves her teddy….

Oh and Today is Kaitlyn’s Beach Barbeque Birthday Party.  So tomorrow’s pictures should be tons of fun :) .  I’m actually making this post while I wait for the butter to soften so I can make the frosting for the cake.  Yep, I made the cake.  There will be pictures.  I bought the Dora toppers from Albertsons.  Chris smoked ribs all day yesterday, and it’s supposed to be beautiful outside all day.  At least I’m hoping so, because how do you have a beach barbeque if it’s raining out?  YIPES!  Anyhow, look for fun pictures to follow of our birthday celebration tomorrow!

Kitty’s Tea Party

April 17, 2008

Yesterday Kaitlyn was playing tea party with Kitty and I just couldn’t resist the photo op :) .  She was so adorable, pouring tea and making kitty drink some.  Toddlerhood is adorable sometimes!

As an added bonus, I won a pattern a little while back from SewSensible Boutique.  The shirt Kaitlyn is wearing I made using that pattern.  Considering my hand situation (and Chris’s assistance with the cutting), I am very pleased with myself.  I actually took an old skirt of mine and used it for the material in this top.  Doesn’t Kaitlyn look darling?  Are you dying for the pattern yourself?  Here’s the link :)

Here are the resulting photos.  As always, if you are curious about my settings, or anything ps related, please email me and I’d be happy to share!

I think that I’m going to have to print that one big.  It needs to be on my wall, don’t you think?

A Very Special Day

April 16, 2008

On Sunday, we drove to Key Largo. It was awesome! The Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia presented an absolutely stunning puppet show of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud, and A Very Mixed Up Chameleon. And it was seriously amazing!! I cannot brag enough about the experience. The stage set was all black and the puppeteers were all dressed in black, and then the props and puppets were all black lit. The story was narrarated, and the set designs looked like they came straight from the books. It was beautiful! If you are anywhere near where they are putting on the show, you should go. Hands down. Seriously amazing! Eric Carle was there during a rare appearance, and he signed Kaitlyn’s book for me. He was super nice, and he even talked to Kaitlyn and Riley a bit. Kaitlyn was restless, so I walked her to the back of the theater, and lucky ducky me…I met Jim, he’s the man who designed and created the puppet show. Anyhow, I’m just beside myself by the experience, as you can tell hehe. During the show, the kids were so focused on it. Kaitlyn was literally shouting as the familiar characters showed up on stage. She was shaking with excitement, and now I need to buy here the "Little Cloud" book.  Anyhow, here’s a couple pictures from that day

Key West Aquarium

Last Weekend Chris and I took the little two to the Key West Aquarium.  They had a fantastic time looking at the different fish that are there.  But, of course, their absolute favorite was the touch tank.  They had starfish, conchs (pronounced konks), sea cucumbers (yuck), and crabs.  Riley was also very impressed by the sea turtles.  They are HUGE!!!  The tour guide was awesome, and she told us all about many of the displays they have, including the sharks, and the stingrays.  One of the things she said was different about them, is that they stingrays are intact, meaning they can hurt you.  So no hands in that tank!  Riley was impressed by how big they were.  And they would jump out of the water to get a fish!  It was really cool.

Here’s a couple pics from the day:

And just because I think it’s cute.  This picture was taken in front of the Customs House in Key West (it’s right next to the Aquarium).  In front there is a HUGE statue and this is the couple’s suitcase.  Tee Hee!!
