A Very Special Day

April 16, 2008

On Sunday, we drove to Key Largo. It was awesome! The Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia presented an absolutely stunning puppet show of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud, and A Very Mixed Up Chameleon. And it was seriously amazing!! I cannot brag enough about the experience. The stage set was all black and the puppeteers were all dressed in black, and then the props and puppets were all black lit. The story was narrarated, and the set designs looked like they came straight from the books. It was beautiful! If you are anywhere near where they are putting on the show, you should go. Hands down. Seriously amazing! Eric Carle was there during a rare appearance, and he signed Kaitlyn’s book for me. He was super nice, and he even talked to Kaitlyn and Riley a bit. Kaitlyn was restless, so I walked her to the back of the theater, and lucky ducky me…I met Jim, he’s the man who designed and created the puppet show. Anyhow, I’m just beside myself by the experience, as you can tell hehe. During the show, the kids were so focused on it. Kaitlyn was literally shouting as the familiar characters showed up on stage. She was shaking with excitement, and now I need to buy here the "Little Cloud" book.  Anyhow, here’s a couple pictures from that day
