I was creative yesterday

June 14, 2008

And I’m proud of it!  I had this idea you see for paper dolls.  Specifically magnetic ones that the kids could easily play with.  Well I decided to put their faces on the dolls.  So I found some awesome paper dolls online at www.makingfriends.com and photoshopped the kids heads on the dolls.  Then printed it out on magnetic paper - sold at Office Max.  The hardest part of the whole project was trying to get a good facing forward image of Kaitlyn.  But she was so excited to have "her" doll.  Then Riley was jealous, so I made him one too.  And Jennifer had a brilliant idea to get cookie sheets to play with them on - cookie sheets are metal and the magnets stick.  Genius!  Anyhow, here’s a couple pics…

Riley's Paper Doll 1

I’ve only had the dolls a day, and already I can see the value in this toy.  It’s perfect for quieter play.  And that website has boy dress up clothes too, which I thought was just awesome!  I printed off the pirate and magician for Riley.  Oh and I used a roll of laminate to help protect the dolls.  YAY!!
